Dr. Gumus earned her BS degree in education with specializations in Elementary Education and Literature from the Canakkale Onsekiz Mart University in Turkey in 1995 and her Special Education endorsement in 1997. She completed her M.S. degree in Special Education at Indiana University (IUB) in 2002. In 2008, Dr. Gumus earned her Ph.D. from Indiana University with concentrations in Teacher Education, Early Childhood Education and Early Intervention, and High Incidence Disabilities. Dr. Gumus has also earned her Graduate Reading Certificate in Reading Educating Education in 2017 from Appalachian State University. Dr. Gumus started to work at Manchester University on January 2, 2024, as an Associate Professor and Director of Teacher Education. Dr. Gumus loves traveling the world, attending conferences to present about her educational research and publications but also is a fan of gardening and cooking with her own produce for her family and friends.

Dr. Schilling earned her BA degree in 1990 from Manchester University, her MA of Administration in 1998 from Indiana Purdue University Fort Wayne, and her Ed.D. from Ball State University in 2011. She joined the Manchester faculty in 2003. Her areas of interest and expertise include social studies and language arts secondary education, elementary education, children’s literature, reading, and adolescent learners. She is especially interested in the study of progressive education, culturally responsive teaching, and student athletes. Dr. Schilling enjoys spending time with her family (both at home and at MU), traveling to see the world and friends, mentoring student athletes, and spreading joy with her dogs.

Dr. Stetzel earned her BS degree in education with specializations in elementary education and reading from the University of Saint Francis. She completed her M.Ed. degree focused on curriculum development at Indiana Wesleyan University.  In 2015, Dr. Stetzel earned her Ph.D. from Indiana State University with concentrations in administration and leadership. Many courses have been developed and taught by Dr. Stetzel since her arrival at Manchester in 2004. In addition to serving as Department Chair, she teaches Exploring Educational Systems, Educational Assessment, Educational Psychology, and methods courses for teacher candidates. She also mentors teacher candidates in clinical experiences and educational studies interns in professional settings. The outdoors is where you will find Dr. Stetzel wandering in the wonders as she spends time with family hiking, biking, kayaking, camping, and sometimes just wandering.

Tracy Walda '15 received her BS in early childhood and elementary education with a specialization in mild intervention in 2015 from Manchester University and her MS in curriculum and instruction from Western Governors University in 2023. She joined Manchester University in August 0f 2024. Prior to coming to Manchester, she spent time teaching elementary education as well as working in early childhood education as a director and curriculum coordinator. She loves spending time with her family and two children Adalyn and Hudson. In her spare time, she enjoys reading, doing photography, and traveling near and far.

Ms. Wieland received her BS in Criminal Justice in 2001 from Saint Joseph's College. Prior to joining the Manchester University Education Department in 2014, she spent time as a supervisor at a juvenile detention center, a felony probation officer and most recently, spent over nine years as a legal assistant. In her spare time, she enjoys watching her two children, Kaidyn and Trey, in their various sports and extra-curricular activities, baking, hiking, kayaking, working out, camping, vacationing and spending time with her family.
